#托福作文咩第 29 期 Day 5# With the development of entertainment, now there are full of various interesting amusement project. Some people claim that reading the book would be better before they watch the movie, while others hold adverse ideas. As far as I am concerned, I prefer to watch the movie before I read the book. My viewpoint is based on the following reasons and example.
The first benefit is that watching movies are more efficient than reading books. Due to intense competition of test, the time is pressing and a book which was made into movie must be long. However I have no time to read a long book. Watching a movie, I could save much time to prepare the TOEFL test. The Great Gatsby, for example, is a long novel which was written in 1925. If I chose to read it, I would spend one month, even longer, on reading it over. But I watch the movie which is based on The Great Gatsby just costs me few hours.
In addition, movies which is full of ample visual and auditory impact could bring me diverse sensory feeling. Different from authors, filmmakers could take advantage of multiple actions and music. As we know, moving pictures with music always let people feeling exciting. Taking the Lord of the Rings for example, watching movies in the cinema, I am amazed by the wonderful pictures and inspiring music. It is no doubt that the watching movies is more interesting than reading books. Because single word is put limit on expression of story.
Admittedly, reading books before we watch the movies do have some advantages. For example, we could acquire more details from books and know more about author’s intention. Thus, watching movies, we could assure that we would not miss any vital information. However, watching movies, for most people, could express details and author’s intention directly through picture and music, too.
From what has been discussed above, we can draw an exact conclusion that reading book is not my style. On the one hand, we have to spend lots of time on reading book, which is not efficient. On the other hand, when we read a book, we cannot obtain diverse sensory feeling.

Recently, many films adapting of literary masterpieces have risen a huge discussion in young audiences. Someone who reads these literary works before thinks some films destroy the books and someone argues they create new masterpieces. For audiences, we should choose whether read the book before we watch the movie or watch the movie before we read the novel. In my opinion, I prefer to read the literary book before I enjoy the movie.[br]On the one hand, reading can brings more imagination than watching. When people read words in books, they can’t help imaging the probable plots in their mind and they actually make a movie in their own brains. Especially for fiction movies, we will image the scenes which they will battle with others and how they will communicate with each other in the future. This helps them understand the story well in the theater to some degree.[br]On the other hand, reading some books before watching movies based on them can helps us decide which one film deserves to enter into the theater. As we all known, more and more films say they are adapted from literal works, but actually they just use its name or its characters. Furthermore, several kinds of films are boring and the audience don't need to watch them on this big screen. Taking the film named "Letters" as an example. Before it was performed in last summer, there are many advertisements about it and they call for audiences enter into theaters to support it. But I had already read it several years ago and this book is a kind of romantic novel. The story it described wasn't fascinating enough to make a movie, so I thought this film wasn't excellent and I refused to buy ticket.[br]Admittedly, reading books before watching may spend a lot of time, especially for some fiction novels. While, it is because these books are difficult to read that we should read them ahead of time. Without reading before, we may fail to get what filmmakers want to tell us. That will be a terrible experience in my opinion.[br]In a nutshell, the tendency of adaption of novels has become more and more popular and choosing a suitable way to enjoy these movies has become more and more important. As far an I'm concerned, reading before watching the movie is benefit for audiences to understand the plot of this movie and the purpose of filmmakers. If this work is wonderful, you can appreciate it twice through book and movie. Otherwise, if it is terrible, you will not waste time and money entering the theater.[br]
With the progress of technology and the growth of people's spiritual demand, various movies keep emerging one after anther. And meanwhile, in response to this trend, the growing number of filmmakers choose to make movies based on books, because in this way they can reduce the production time and ensure the quality of the script. This phenomenon divides people into two kinds: the first kind is apt to read the book before they watch the movie, whereas the other kind prefer to watch movie before they read the book. Personally speaking, I belong to the first kind of people. There are a couple of reasons and examples that support my viewpoint.[br]Firstly, reading the book beofre we watch the movie is conducive to understand plots of the movie. Because generally the time of movies is limited in two hours, that make filmmakers have to cut off some scenarios and settings to prevent timeouts. But this cut usually bring the lack of background and make it hard for the audiences to understand some plots. For example, the "Shape of Voice", an anime film that is based on a comic book had triggered a heated debate on the Twitter. Because the filmmakers deleted a polt of the contradiction among the leading actors, and that make the audiences can not understand the epitasis of this movie. But in such situation,if we had watched the book firstly, we will be avoided such a case.[br]Secondly, reading the book first can make us more impressed by the characters. Since the unique way of expression in the movie, it can not use a long paragraph to address the inner monologue and idead of the characters like the novel does. While that makes a lot of audiences can not understand the characters' personality. For example, a famous anime film"Byousoku 5 Centimeter", Because of the lack of portrait for the leading actor Toono Takaki's inner monologues, many audiences have not aware of his feelings to Shinohara Akari. And that lead audiences had not remember this special role.[br]Admittedly, I do not mean that watching movies first play no role in enjoying movies. After all in this way, we can enjoy the novelty of a strange plot. But the way of expression is different in movies and novels, so even if we had read the book before watching the movie, we can still enjoy the novelty.[br]Admittedly, I do not mean that watching movies first play no role in enjoying movies. Affter all in this way, we can enjoy the novelty of a strange plot. But the way of expression is diffrent in movies and novels, so even if we had read the book before watching the movie, we can still enjoy the novelty. [br]To put it into nutshell, reading the book before we watch the movie is a better choice. That is not only because it can make us comprehend the plots of the movie better, but also because it let us more impressed by the characters.
Never do topics concerning movies and books fail to fascinate us, under such a society with ever-increasing improvement of people’s cultural quality. When it comes to watch a movie based on books, some people prefer to watch the film before they read the book. Nevertheless, I’m on the opposite of their views.[br]Firstly, reading books before watching movies enables people to learn about all aspects of the film, laying a solid foundation for people to understand the film’s content and soul. Classical literatures are always adapted for movies. Reading the literatures before going to cinema, people will have the general understanding of historical backgrounds and complicated relationships among characters. For example, my friend with I went to cinema to watch Pride and Prejudice. Reading this book previously, I was clear about all characters names so I was totally abandoned myself in stories. On the contrary, my friend was confused about the complex relationships among people in movies. So I prefer to read books before watching movies. [br]What is more, put books in the first place to give people more imagination. The book conveys the author's emotional world through words, while the film conveys message in the form of images and sounds. So in the book world we are the director, and we are able to conceive the charactor that make up this world. However, the figure in the film is the idea of another strangers. Therefore, reading the book at first, people will have their own ideas, and they can take the initiative to enjoy the movie instead of being imbued with the idea of others.[br]Admittedly, reading books before watching movies has a lot of negative effects, such as knowing some plots in advance, which contributes that people feel bored during films. Nevertheless, most films are adapted from books, in other words, whether characters and plots are always different from books. Therefore, reading books at first is my preference and adding my own thoughts to the time when I watch a movie contributes me to feel more interested. [br]In a nutshell, reading books before watching movies not only is conducive to help people understand the content of movies in advance, but also people are able to have more space to image. Thus, I claim that I’d like to read the book before the movie.
Currently, an increasing number of movies directors like to make their movies based on the books. A big controversy has raised in society that some people prefer to read the novel before they actually go to the cinema seeing the movie, however, others would like to watch the movie before they read the original book. I am asserted that the first one is my preference. [br]Reading books before seeing the movie can give us an broader imagination space without seeing anything real. Movie narrates the story by showing us visual scenes, and its development depends on the changing plot scenes. But books are totally different from that. Books are made of words, no picture, no illustration, all the image are created in readers’ mind. I want to give an example about this to make things more clearly: when all students are assigned to read a same book, and write a review on it after reading it. As we all know, no one can write down the same thing as others. Everyone has their own perspectives, like when we see a description of one character, the picture we created in mind about this character must be different. But in the movie, it has already give us a certain character’s image. A thought pattern has already created unconsciously which limits our imagination space. [br]Also, as we all know, there is a big difference between movies and original books. Movies might lose the books’ main idea and cannot reveal what’s the author really want to say to the reader. Many movies directors like to adapt the books for different reasons. For example, their understanding of the book is their subjective point of view, so they might shoot their movies from their own opinions. And sometimes the author tend to reveal some special meanings to readers implicitly, but when it comes to movies, all things are shown explicitly. The original idea of author has changed a lot through movies. In addition, the climax in the whole story might be written for many chapters in one book, because there are a lot of information need to be given to the readers. But movies can only show the same theme through several minutes. There is no doubt that movie might lack importance plot of the story. [br]In conclusion, I’m confirmedly stating that reading book before watching movie is the better choice. By doing this, reader’s imagination can be stretched freely and also it’s better for them to get to know the main point made by authors, not losing those important and fantastic chapters in the book.[br]
With the development of the film industry, more and more films originated from some famous literature which have a large following. Hence, a heated debate about this has arisen: do you prefer to watch the movie before reading books or not? I belong to the former kind of people who are fond of reading first. My viewpoint is based on following reasons and examples.[br] A compelling tale can cultivate us to be a person of fertile imagination. As we know, the special effect scene in movie is created from designer’s own comprehension of this movie but not for ours. That just means, we obtain others‘ feelings and explanations directly. In a sense, we may loss the enjoyment of imagining for ourselves. Think myself for example. I am a big fan of Harry Potter. I read this series of books at the age of 9. At that time, I was keen on studying in the magical universe one day due to its often changeable construction. Moreover, I gradually admired the courage and kindness Harry potter showed in adversity. Thus, the fascination of these books drives me to watch film series.[br] Furthermore, the reading of the book in advance allows readers to ground in the real world of writer. Compared with the visual shock at the scene, appreciating the quality of words can make us share the feeling with leading characteristic which can give us a different view experience of movies. Gone with the Wind it is undoubtedly a masterpiece I’ve read. Through the entire story, I was attracted by the book from the beginning to the end. Gradually, I find myself in Scarlet . Hence, it was with such feelings that I watched the whole movie. Though this movie had some fragments to be cut, ascribing to reading before, I struck a chord with the vivid scene. Therefore, reading books ahead can we draw the distance closer to the inner world of character.
